Position summary

Sr Dir – Brand Journal & Media (Job Opening 439541) – The Senior Director of Brand Journalism & Media Relations is responsible for leading and executing content and media relations programs with the goal of sharing stories that position OSUWMC as a premier Academic Medical Center to the local, regional, national and international consumer, business and trade media. Working closely with leadership from the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department, Senior Leadership at the Medical Center and The University, the Senior Director develops and coordinates content for owned, earned, and paid media. Efforts are aimed at gaining and strengthening recognition for research accomplishments, service offerings, technology and treatment advancements, milestones and achievements, talent and expertise. The Senior Director also is responsible for establishing OSUWMC’s thought leadership with various target audiences. The Senior Director is the key information source for all media contacts requesting data and insights, and serves as the primary spokesperson.

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business management, journalism or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years strong public relations and media relations experience, preferably with knowledge of healthcare, higher ed, or large corporate environments.  Some agency experience a plus. Significant experience in brand journalism, media relations and strategic marketing communications with a proven track record for execution, placement, success and results. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficient at public speaking and presentations to varied audiences. Demonstrated experience and success at developing, executing and coordinating communication elements and functions.
