The Social Media Specialist will assist to plan, implement, manage and evaluate social media activities for Children’s National Health System. 


Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree

Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications.

4 Year(s)

At least 4 years, experience in marketing, public relations or corporate communications strongly preferred

Required Skills/Knowledge
Has advanced knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and their correlating insights and analytics tools such as Sprinklr, HootSuite, Radian6, and other third party scheduling and monitoring platforms. Excellent project and time management skills. Able to take direction and demonstrate attention to detail, initiative and follow-through on a variety of projects. A self-starter who can work within tight timeframes. Demonstrates ability to organize and work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize workload. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including AP Style.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop a plus.

Functional Accountabilities

Content Development

  1. Draft, edit, and schedule social media content
  2. Promote news media stories, blogs, events, patient stories on appropriate social media channel(s)
  3. Coordinate logistics and be the primary host/poster for any social media events, e.g. Twitter Chats, Facebook Live, etc.
  4. Draft weekly, monthly, and quarterly social media reports that display growth, insights, and ways to improve engagement


  1. Lead interdepartmental team meetings to review weekly and monthly content updates and social media scheduling
  2. Draft and distribute meeting notes and editorial assignments
  3. Act as a social media expert within the department and organization, provide input on incoming social media content requests
  4. Participate in departmental editorial planning meetings, contributing any social media content as necessary.
  5. Monitor social media platforms for comments and questions, proactively engage with other Children’s departments to draft responses in a timely manner
