The Social Media & Content Intern will assist with coordinating and executing the System’s social media strategy, working across key social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  This role will be instrumental in increasing the System’s social media presence and gaining visibility for our brand among our various audiences, including potential and current students, community and business leaders and other influencers.  This position will also contribute original content for the System’s web site, as well as provide regular maintenance to keep information up to date.


Assist with streamlining College System of Tennessee social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms), ensuring uniform content and tone of voice for landing pages, graphics, and other elements within the communities;

Monitoring and replying to comments posted to various social media channels (initially under supervision from a Director);

Generating original social media posts on a regular basis, using tools like AgoraPulse to plan forward-looking posts over weekends and holidays (under supervision from a Director);

Work with directors to implement channel-specific social media campaigns;

Assist with tracking key social media analytics on a monthly basis, including Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.;

Research and develop original content for the Systems web site;

Make regular updates and edits to the System’s web site content as requested

Requirements of the Position

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Operate with integrity and follow all assigned tasks through to completion;

Proven written communication skills, and a passion for writing both short-and long copy;

Excellent verbal communication skills;

An interest in marketing, communications, social media or reputation management;

Familiarity with key social media tools (e.g. Twitter and Facebook) and with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel);

Able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks at once; plans ahead so that required tasks get completed;

Ability to work in a team-oriented, professional environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently pursuing associate degree or technical certificate in journalism, marketing, mass communication, English or related field;

Demonstrated familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms;

Strong written and verbal communication, strong editing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Attendance at a TBR institution;

Experience with higher education
