This Associate Director, Social Media leader works to develop and implement a global animal health social media strategy as part of a consistent “customer connect” strategy within Merck Animal Health. This includes developing and managing social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc) for corporate reputation programs and campaigns – to engage, inform and inspire customers, employees and advocates in the animal health space.
Responsibilities include monitoring channels and engaging with global marketing teams to create content/engagement for corporate channels that add value, engage customers, pet owners, and people interesting in joining our company. Inform local operations of programs – and leveraging as appropriate their programs in corporate channels. Drive engagement and followership through paid and organic means. Align channels and programs to deliver content and interact with communities and influencers; design protocols for daily and crisis-based social listening to identify trends, monitor influencers and identify opportunities to engage, respond or forge new relationships; shape animal health social media policy and processes to streamline workflow and ensure compliance in regulated spaces; lead community of interest around social media programs and issues and provide key metric reports based on industry benchmarks and KPIs. Collaborates with other Global communication colleagues to add social media outreach to communication programs and campaigns.
This person will work closely with other Animal Health Teams, including Global Companion Animal Marketing, and Global Livestock Marketing, Human Resources, IT and Global Commercial Operations. Partners with other animal health regions and countries to pilot social media programs. Provide counsel to local operations on issues management.
The position will also communicate and update animal health local teams on best practice and success stories. Particiates on Merck Corporate Social Media Enterprise Team as Animal Health representative.
Required Experience and Skills**:
- A minimum of 7 years professional communications experience or marketing experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of digital channels in an international environment.
- Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels and across cultures.
- Experience managing agencies.
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and problem solve.•
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience in consumer marketing or at a communications agency.
- Experience in healthcare markets
- Solid experience in digital/social media engagement strategy development for a global business with health care professionals
- Experience using social media management tools such as hootsuite and google analytics
